Accessible travel

Our goal is to provide all passengers a safe, comfortable and efficient travel experience. Our trains and stations are wheelchair-accessible, allow service animals and offer assistance when needed. Advance ticket purchase is recommended. Passengers requiring special accommodations should request necessary services when purchasing tickets.

Stay connected. Passengers can conveniently monitor email or surf the Internet on the Hiawatha all for free.


Bicycles

Bringing your bicycle onboard only costs $5 and doesn't require a box. Simply reserve a spot for your bike and hand it to the Amtrak crew member at the baggage car. We call it Trainside Checked Bicycle Service

Feel free to bring your favorite snack and beverage onboard. Refreshments are also available for purchase at cafes and vending machines in the stations.


Golf bags

Want to carry your golf bag on board? No problem. Reservations are required and a $10 service charge will apply.

Pets on board

We happily welcome dogs and cats up to 20 pounds on the Hiawatha. Pet reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis, and no more than five pets are permitted per train, so be sure to make a reservation by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL or visiting a staffed Amtrak station.

Power outlets

Standard 110-volt electrical power outlets are available right by your seat to supply power to your electronic devices.


Seating

Enjoy comfortable reclining seats with lots of legroom and plenty of space to move around. Fold-down trays, overhead reading lights, free Wi-Fi and electrical outlets are available at every seat. A restroom is available on every car.

Purchase tickets your way.

One-Way or Round-trip Tickets may be purchased:

  • Online or from Amtrak’s mobile app. Print your ticket or have it emailed to your smartphone or tablet.
  • From the automated Amtrak Self-Service Kiosks located at all but the Glenview station.
  • From Ticket agents at the Milwaukee Intermodal Station and Chicago Union station.
  • By calling 1-800-USA-RAIL.

Commuters or passengers who travel frequently on the Hiawatha may be interested in the discounted Multi-Ride ticket, good for 10 one-way trips.
