Amtrak, in partnership with the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois announced a second daily round trip along the route connecting the Twin Cities to Milwaukee and Chicago. Named Borealis, the additional trains will depart St. Paul at midday and Chicago in the late morning.
Coach fares start at $41 each way between St. Paul and Chicago, with everyday discounts for children ages 2-12, students, seniors, veterans, military personnel, and others.
After carefully reviewing ridership data, Amtrak and its partners are reinstating the monthly Hiawatha pass at a rate that offers significant savings for frequent riders compared to the 10-pass option.
The unlimited Milwaukee – Chicago fare is available now for January for $650, with lower prices for shorter distances. As before, transit accounts are a good way to save further by purchasing the passes with pre-tax income.
